Our portfolio of renewable ingredients can be broadly split into segments serving a customer base that extends from branded and own-label foods and beverages to household products, such as detergents and toothpaste; from industries such as building and engineering to paper, textiles and animal feeds.
We operate in more than 65 production facilities in 29 countries, throughout Europe, the Americas and South East Asia. Our products and services include:
- Cereal Sweeteners and Starches: A broad range of cereal food starches and sweeteners from high volume to innovative speciality ingredients; also including polyols (such as sorbitol) and biogums. We produce enough modified food starch to add sheen and improve the texture of 3 billion fruit pies every year.
- Industrial Starches: Native and modified starches for the paper, board, building and textile industries. Our total industrial starch volume could be used as an ingredient to produce 35 billion magazines a year!
- Sugars and Syrups: Predominantly from sugar-cane, an extensive range of sugars and syrups used by food and beverage producers, as well as pharmaceutical, detergent and building companies. In 2004, our famous Lyle’s Golden Syrup brand celebrated its 100th anniversary.
- SPLENDA® Sucralose: A no-calorie sweetener made from sugar, tastes like sugar, but it's not sugar. Used in over 4,000 products worldwide offering consumers a greater range of reduced calorie foods and beverages.
- Solutions: Unique sets of ingredients and services to meet our customers’ needs for nutritious, more appetizing and better tasting foods and drinks.
- Acidulants: Citric, fumaric, malic acids and our salts of citric acid are used by manufacturers of food and beverages, detergents and household goods, and pharmaceutical products. Our citric acid is used to make 350,000 tonnes of laundry detergent per year.
- Alcohol and Ethanol: Tate & Lyle is the largest producer in Europe of potable grain alcohol used in high quality alcoholic drinks. Fuel grade ethanol is used as an alternative fuel source with lower greenhouse emissions.
- Animal Feed: An extensive range of corn, maize, molasses and wheat based products to meet the diverse needs of compound feed manufacturers and farmers.
- Proteins: Tate & Lyle has pioneered an exciting range of proteins made from cereals used in food and feed applications.
- Molasses: A valuable food ingredient and a nutrient in animal feed, it is also used as a substrate for fermentation and as an industrial ingredient with numerous applications such as making tyres.
- Storage: A world-class dedicated third-party bulk liquid storage terminal for food grade, feed grade and industrial products.
